What's something that is always useful? Money? Friends? Knowledge? These things are useful a lot of the time, but sometimes not even these can help us.
But having a calm mind is always useful.
When things are going well then a calm mind allows us to slow down and enjoy a good moment, even if it is just only for a moment. When life gets challenging having a calm mind gives us the best foundation for meeting those challenges.
Our modern life often ignores the value of a calm mind, and instead we find ourselves looking to distractions (like social media) or feeling like a victim or just wanting to give up altogether,
Learning and practicing Mindfulness gives us the greatest gift of all - the power to be calm; the power to flow with life rather than fighting our own feelings and needs.
In this blog I'm going to talk about how to do this, based on my own personal experience. I'm not an enlightened being, and like everyone else I sometimes get depressed, frustrated and upset. But mindfulness has taught me how to get out of those states of mind, and learn from the experience. Mindfulness has taught me to value being calm, and has helped me climb out of some very dark places. It taught me how to appreciate what I have, rather than be angry about what I don't have.
That's what I want to share with you.
I'll be writing about methods I've found useful, my experiences and what they taught me and - most importantly - how to live a modern life and still connect to our inner stillness, the deep calm that we need to have a wholesome and healthy life.
